Who is OSK and what do we do?

Organic Soup Kitchen is a non-profit organization with a social objective to provide organic, nutritious, wholesome food to marginalized sectors of Santa Barbara’s community.

We leverage relationships with other charities to reach as many hungry people as possible. This allows us to serve nutritious food and encourage those in need to use the services offered by other local non-profits (medical, psychiatric, recovery, housing etc..)  

Our dedication to cost effective, nutritionally efficient methods of feeding the masses makes us an innovator in the non-profit world.

OSK functions as a social business driven to bring about positive change within the community while pursuing financial, economic and environmental sustainability.

We promote resource efficiency by approaching community providers such as local, organic farmers and retailers of natural, healthy, organic food.

How is OSK different?

OSK uses fresh, organic produce to prepare nutritious meals that are low-glycemic and anti-inflammatory. For those in disadvantaged communities, this type of food is vital in providing essential vitamins and minerals that boost the immune system and promote healing.

OSK is unique in that we are a social and environmentally conscious non-profit organization with a social business objective. Our goal is financial sustainability, minimizing dependency upon grants and donations, and generating surplus that can be re-accumulated for expansion, improvement and diversification.

OSK is innovative in developing marketing strategies to generate revenue such as merchandise and products sales, catering services and the "Subscription Soup Program".

OSK is visionary. We envision a sustainable, social business model that improves the quality of life for disadvantaged communities through the provision of organic, wholesome, nutritious food. We imagine other communities successfully implementing this model with assistance and encouragement from Organic Soup Kitchen, Santa Barbara.

OSK is collaborative. Our ties with other organizations allows us to support their efforts through quality food and nutritional education.
